Annette: A leader of the Anarchist Collective in Mainline New York in 95AE. Nedo’s girlfriend.
Archos: A young Squad Leader at Fort Larsa, Ivy’s first independent command. Archos is the son of a local chief.
Arnold Clemhorn: Second son of the World Leader of Etu. In 95AE was one of the leaders of an artistic commune in Mainline New York with his cousin Nedo.
Aris Arcaos: A Pegoni war leader. The Pegoni are a barbarian alliance centered on Etu’s European Alps.
Brian Clemhorn: World Leader of Etu.
Cador Horsing: A Sergeant in Etu’s armed forces. Born in Spain, transferred to Fort Larsa in 95AE where he first came under Ivy’s command.

Conrad Clemhorn: Heir and son of the World Leader of Etu. Continental Leader for South America.
Constantine MacKenzie: Son and heir to the World Leader of Huis. A year younger than Conrad they were roommates at the Academy.
Cudomix: Clemhorn Corps Leader on Etu. Before returning to front-line service in 95AE he been seconded to Etu Officer’s Academy where he had been Ivy’s instructor on military history.
Daniels: Senior Troop Leader at Fort Larsa, Ivy’s first independent command.
Dennis Domov: World Leader of Domov. His son Mark was one of Conrad’s close, personal friends, he was also Mary’s father and Hayden’s father-in-law.
Defella Haratan: Daughter of a Continental Leader on Dynand, and when the story commences an aide to the World Leader in Naisre.
Donald Clemhorn: Third son of the World Leader of Etu. Completed his PhD in Alternate History at Mainline’s Charleston University.
Elem Clemhorn: Wife of the World Leader of Etu, and daughter to the First Leader of Notway (Griffin Windsor).
George Harnich: World Leader of Kleng.
Griffin Windsor: World Leader of Notway and leader of the progressive faction in the Council of World Leaders. Following the death of Manek in 96AE was contender for the position of First Leader.
Hayden McArthur: The second son of the World Leader of Clyde. A Continental Leader Hayden is a close friend of Conrad’s, as a result of their period together at the Academy. He is married to Mary, daughter of the World Leader of Domov, and their eldest child, Felicity is Conrad’s godchild.
Isobel Peric: Sister of the Brian Clemhorn, and married to Roland North American Continental Leader on Dontfrey.
Ivy Clemhorn: Only daughter of the World Leader of Etu. A career officer in Etu’s armed forces.
Jon Raincloud: A Force Leader in Etu’s Clemhorn Rangers. In 95 AE he was stationed at Fort Lanegan, 150 miles west of Leolie. A member of the Oneida tribe, one of the six founding nations of the Iroquois Confederacy on Etu.
Jules McKenzie: Force Leader in the Clemhorn 72nd Battle Group. Commander of Fort Perusia, where Ivy spent two years as a Troop Leader.
Kaito Langley: Inventor of the first re-usable portal. Shared an apartment with Donald during their time together at Mainline’s University of Charleston.
Lawrence McArthur: Third son of the World Leader of Clyde, and a commander in the C-TE’s Imperial Security. Conrad’s godfather.
Leanne Daer: Designated heir of the World Leader of D’daer.
Lindsay Byre: Heir and son of the World Leader of Chikyù. A friend of Conrad’s as a consequence of their time at the Academy together.
Louise Peric: Youngest daughter of Isobel and Roland.
Manek: First Leader died 96 AE. His death triggered the first war of succession.
Maras: Professor of Time-line Theoretics at the Mainline University of Charleston. Developed the unified theory of time at the age of twenty (see Matija Maras).
Margaret Peric: Eldest daughter of Isobel and Roland.
Mathilda: A Senior Troop Leader in the Clemhorn 72nd Battle Group at Fort Perusia, where Ivy spent two years as a Troop Leader.
Matija Maras: Studied textile design at the Rome Institute of Fine Arts (Mainline). Postgraduate student at the Charleston’s Industrial College. Met Donald Clemhorn via her father, Professor Maras in 95AE.
Metztli (Governor): Etu’s Military Governor of Neu Stuttgart / Western Europe.
Michelle Peric: Second daughter of Isobel and Roland.
Miro Raputa: World Leader of Dontfrey. Leader of the conservative faction in the Council of World Leaders, and following the death of Manek in 96AE contender for the position of First Leader.
Nedo Peric: Second son of Isobel and Roland. A close friend of Arnold, and a co-founder of the Mainline New York commune.
Nezahual: Tlatcani and head of Cempoala’s City Council. Cempoala is the continental capital of South America. Father of Papanzin.
Papanzin: Conrad’s lover at Cempoala during his time as Etu’ South American Continental Leader. Their breakup in 95AE caused Conrad’s early departure from the city.

Petro Raputa: A compatriot and rival of Conrad’s as a consequence of their time together at the Academy. Heir to the World Leader of Dontfrey.

Running Bear: Battle Group Leader of the Clemhorn Rangers.
Shicowe: Battle Group Leader (retired) in Etu’s armed forces.
Sitting Crow: Former head of the Etu World Leader’s Intelligence Service and Ivy’s mentor. He retired to take over his family’s import and export business.
Treik: Son of the First Leader. Died 94 AE leaving the Empire without a designated heir. The death of his father set the Empire on the path of war.
Tsitsho: Force Leader in the 48th Clemhorn Light Infantry.
